Your Ice Dawgs come out from Friday night's game with a 9-6 win over the LSU Tigers!
In front of an estimated crowd of 2,200, the MSU Ice Dawgs finally achieved their much-awaited payback on the LSU Tigers by defeating them 9-6 January 8th.
While the Tigers scored the first goal in the 1st period, the Dawgs tied it up at the end of the period with a short-handed goal from R.C. Martin, and went into the 2nd period with Martin again scoring 5 minutes into the 2nd with assists from Tripp Horne and Joe Lamerson.
The teams battled for the lead back and fourth until the score remained tied at 6-6 in the 3rd period. What seemed like a scary moment, the Dawgs found the scoring touch and ignited under a stream of 3 goals within 5 minutes to seal the victory.
Highlights of the game included:
-R.C. Martin's first career hat-trick for MSU
-Tripp Horne's first goal of the season
-Will Walker's 3rd period goal to continue his lead for MSU in points.
